The Mount Wilson Trail Race (MWTR) is the second oldest trail race in California and is held the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Every year 300+ runners challenge the Mount Wilson Trail and race 8.6 miles on a course that features an elevation gain of 2,100 feet. This challenging race sells out every year, so be sure to register early! Registration information can be found at www.mountwilsontrailrace.com in January. In addition to the main race, the MWTR features a pasta feed dinner the night before, Kids' Art Show and Race, beer garden, vendor booths and hundreds of race enthusiasts cheering our runners.
Beginning in February, the Mount Wilson Trail Race Committee offers a free training run program. Runners meet in Kersting Court at 7:00am to participate in this training program. Runners of all levels are welcome and the program is divided into three brackets of beginner, intermediate and advanced runners. The training program occurs every Saturday morning until race day. In addition to training, volunteers also provide tips on hydration and trail running safety.
*NOTE: Participation in the Mt. Wilson Trail Race and/or Mt. Wilson training program is open to individuals age 14 and above as of the day of the race.
Kids’ Run Training
Training runs are not limited to just the adults. Mount Wilson Trail Race Committee members host two youth training days each year to prepare youth for the Kids’ Fun Run. Learn proper running techniques, execute running drills and train with a former race winner!
Pasta Feed Dinner
Held the Friday before the main race in Kersting Court. Runners have the opportunity to pick-up their race bib and load up on carbs to prepare for the race the following day.
Kids’ Fun Run
The Kids’ Fun Run is held just after the start of the main race in Kersting Court. Youth and their parent/guardian must register for the free race at the Pasta Feed Dinner, or prior to the race starting at 7:00am. Youth ages 3 to 13 years run approximately 1 mile and start and finish under the main race banner! All registered youth receive a free t-shirt.
