Mount Wilson Trail Race

Mount Wilson Trail Virtual Race

Internet registration opens: TBD
Last day for Internet registration: TBD

Here's how it will all work.

You will need to keep your own time, via a reliable GPS app like Strava or Map My Run and submit a GPSX data to the City of Sierra Madre, along with selfies (with your mask on) at: 1) the race start at Kersting Court, 2) Orchard Camp 3) Race finish with watch time

The first 150 registrants will receive a race medal and T-shirt displaying the unique design of Wilson the Mule with his socially responsible mask.  All registrants after may have to wait for a reorder of items.

We want you to be safe on your race day.

We encourage you to pick a day and time when it is coolest and less crowded, like early on a weekday.

On your race day, you are REQUIRED to wear a mask, buff or any item that you can use as a mask-type covering that does NOT include your shirt.

You must maintain six feet of social distancing at all times while on the trail.

DO NOT run in a group, but if you have a running or walking buddy who will stay sufficiently apart from you during the race, the two of you can look out for each other.

Please be aware there will be the normal public hiking on the trail and you must be respectful of the hikers and surrounding neighborhood.

Please make sure to wear proper shoes and attire for trail running/hiking.  These two weeks can provide varying weather but it is up to the individual registrant to assess the day and/or time in which they are running.  If there is rain, please consider another date/time as the trail is complex in certain areas.

NOTE: There will not be any water stations on the trail, please make sure to bring your own hydration and food/snacks with you.

The road and trail are approximately a 2,900ft climb and an 8.6 mile total.  Please be aware of your mileage.

If you are attempting to race early in the morning (until approximately 6:30am) or the evening (starting 5:00pm), do not forget a light as it is dark.

Trail safety is IMPERATIVE as there is NO Search & Rescue on the trail 24 hours a day/7 days a week.  Please note, running this trail is at your own risk.

If participants are unable to follow the rules, the race can be cancelled without refund deemed by City Management.

The MWTR Committee will be putting up signs and banners in and around Kersting Court and the trail head during the race period so you can get into the proper mindset! While this is a completely different experience, we still want you to have FUN!

We will put together a virtual awards ceremony which you can watch from the comfort of your own beer garden after the race period has ended. We will recognize overall and age group winners and have a raffle for running shoes from Run With Us in Pasadena; all participants in the race will be eligible.
