Commission Descriptions The Sierra Madre Planning Commission is a seven-member volunteer citizen body appointed for four-year terms by the Mayor and City Council. A Commissioner can also be re-appointed for a consecutive second term for another four years, or eight year maximum term.
The Planning Commission makes recommendations, approvals, denials, interpretations, and administers the regulations and amendments according to the Sierra Madre Municipal Code. They deal with changes of zone, general plan, land divisions, mergers, lot line adjustments, variances, conditional use permits, and perform other duties as requested by the City Council. Public testimony from citizens and other interested parties is heard at the Planning Commission meeting as well.
