-->> Planning Commission Agendas
The responsibilities of the Planning Commission fall into two broad categories:
- Consideration of current land-use (i.e. applications for General Plan amendments, zone changes, specific plans, conditional use permits, tract maps, variances, and appeals of staff land-use decisions); and,
- Advising the City Council on City initiated amendments to the Cityís General Plan.
According to the Government Code, the legislative body of each county and city must establish a planning agency by ordinance. The powers and duties of the Planning Commission are set forth in state law and are described below.
The Planning Commission may approve or deny the following:
- Conditional use permits.
- Variances.
- Appeals of staff actions (such as minor exception and special use and development permits).
- Tentative Parcel maps.
The commission may not approve, but may make recommendations for approval or denial of the following:
- Tentative Tract maps.
- Amendments to the General Plan.
- Specific plans and amendments to them.
The commission normally meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber. The Friday before the commission meeting, commission members will receive a packet of the agenda items and the minutes of the previous meeting. The Development Services Director is responsible for staffing the Planning Commission. |
