A supervisor and an officer normally staff the Sierra Madre detective bureau. The primary responsibility of the Detectives is to conduct follow-up investigations, evidence collection, recovery of stolen property, storing all evidence and personal property and the identification and apprehension of criminal offenders. Detectives have specialized training to investigate homicides, sex crimes, child abuse, robbery, burglary, narcotics violations, auto theft and fraud.
Detectives personally contact the area District Attorney’s office to secure criminal complaints and assist with the prosecution of criminal offenders.
For the release of evidence, found property or property held for safekeeping, please contact the detective bureau, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at 626-355-1414. If a release of evidence or property is approved, an appointment for the property to be returned should be made with detective bureau personnel. Please have valid picture identification and, if acting on behalf of the owner, bring a signed, notarized statement from the owner authorizing you to receive the property in his or her absence. For further questions please contact Detective Ed Delcoure via phone: 355-7534 or email: edelcoure@ci.sierra-madre.ca.us. |
