The registration deadline for the Oktoberfest Golf and Tennis Tournament fundraiser is coming up this Friday, October 13, 2012.

The competition is about to begin in Sierra Madre with the 8th Annual Oktoberfest Golf and Tennis Tournament on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Sierra Madre Community Programs are the beneficiary of this City sponsored event, with programs like Movies in the Park, Summer Fun in the Park, Huck Finn Fishing Derby, Halloween Window Painting, and the Sierra Madre Historic Bike Ride receiving support.

The golf tournament will be played on a nine-hole course as a foursome, best-ball format at the Eaton Canyon Golf Course with an 8:00 a.m. start time and assigned tee times. All skill levels are welcome and the best-ball format is perfect for beginning golfers! Golfers can sign up as a team or as an individual and the top team receives individual trophies and immortality on the Oktoberfest Golf Tournament perpetual trophy. Want some additional fun? Take a chance in our Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and Putting contests. For those concerned with their swing, Mulligans are available to ensure a better score. Golf tournament fees are $83.00 per person or $300 per team of four (lunch included for both).

The tennis tournament will start at 8:00 a.m. as well and will be held at the Orange Grove tennis courts at the corner of Orange Grove Blvd. and Baldwin Avenue in the City of Arcadia. All ages and skill levels are welcome! The tournament will be played as round robin doubles with rotating partners in co-ed divisions. The first, second, and third place winners each receive a trophy and the first place winner will have their name engraved on the Oktoberfest Tennis Tournament perpetual trophy. Show off your skills prior to the tournament by participating in the serving contest. Tennis tournament fees are $61.00 per person (lunch included).

Following the tournaments is a reception and awards ceremony at the Hart Park House Senior Center, located at 222 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024, at 12:00pm. Enjoy an Oktoberfest style lunch, including beer, brats, and German chocolate cake; purchase tickets for the raffle or another beer or two. Don’t miss the awards presentation for the top golf team and top tennis player. If you are interested in attending the lunch reception only, registration is $30.00 per person.
