Summary of Benefits for Full-Time City Employees
Participation in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) 2.5%@55 for non-safety members; 3%@50 for safety personnel. The City does not participate in Social Security.
Employees may choose from PERS, Kaiser or Blue Cross for medical coverage, per MOU provisions.
Dental coverage is provided through the City’s group plan with MetLife. Employees have the option of MetLife HMO or PPO Plans.
Vision coverage is provided through EyeMed.
The Standard life insurance and AD&D policies are provided by City. Management, Confidential Exempt, and Public Safety employees are provided a $50,000 term life insurance policy. Classified employees are provided a $25,000 term life insurance policy.
Long-Term Disability/Short-Term Disability
Both LTD/SDT is through The Standard.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The City’s employee assistance program is administered by Horizon Health Employee Assistance Program and is available to employees and dependents.
Flexible Benefit Plan - The City offers an IRS Section 125 plan which offers an opportunity to pay dependent health insurance premiums on a pre-tax basis and to put aside money for medical and dependent care expenses.
Eleven paid holidays per year, plus three floating holidays.
Employees accrue sick leave at 3.69 hours of sick leave per pay period for a total of ninety-six (96) hours per year.
Employees accrue of ninety-six (96) hours per year, with additional accrual for each year of service after four years.
Permanent and fulltime employees shall be considered eligible to participate in this program after completing 18 months of satisfactory City service. No employee shall receive greater than $10,000 of tuition reimbursement during his/her cumulative term of employment with the City.
