City Hall Art Exhibits

Call for Artists for Art Shows

In an effort to promote the professional development of local artists and their work, the Community Services Commission and Arts Advisory Committee features a rotation calendar of visual art shows at City Hall.  Local artists are invited to submit samples of work for review and possible inclusion for future exhibits.  Shows run for 6 to 8 weeks with a special reception.  The exhibits may be viewed during business hours at Sierra Madre City Hall, 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.  If you are interested in submitting your work for an art show, please submit samples (copies, not originals) of your work to: Community Services Department, c/o Community Services Commission, Art Advisory Committee, 611 E. Sierra Madre Honors…Recognition Nomination

This is an exciting event and the City's opportunity to recognize and honor the true treasures of Sierra Madre, its volunteers, City Commissioners and employees. Sierra Madre Honors… Recognition and Appreciation Dinner will recognize all out-going City Commissioners as well as extraordinary community members, organizations and employees. Please take a moment to review the awards listed below and nominate any person you feel is eligible for such an honor.

Special Events

The Community Services Department hosts a variety of special events for the Sierra Madre community throughout the year. Annual Events include: Huck Finn Fishing Derby and Campout, Mount Wilson Trail Race, Fourth of July Parade, Oktoberfest Golf and Tennis Tournament, and Halloween Happenings. Huck Finn Fishing Derby and Campout
Date: Friday through Sunday in late March or Early April

The Huck Finn Fishing Derby and Campout are held every year in late March or early April. This is a great opportunity for outdoor family fun! Families can spend a night under the stars and roast marshmallows at the campout, and then wake up the next morning to catch a rainbow trout! The Campout portion of the event is held on Friday, the Fishing derby follows on Saturday morning, and family fishing takes place Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. Campout registration begin in February and pre-registration is required. Registration for the fishing derby and family fishing is done the day of the event. Mount Wilson Trail Race
May 25, 2013

The Mount Wilson Trail Race (MWTR) is the second oldest trail race in California and is held the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Every year 300 runners challenge the Mount Wilson Trail and race 8.6 miles on a course that features an elevation gain of 2,100 feet. This challenging race sells out every year, so be sure to register early! Registration information can be found at www.mountwilsontrailrace.com in January. In addition to the main race, the MWTR features a pasta feed dinner the night before, Kids' Art Show and Race, beer garden, vendor booths and hundreds of race enthusiasts cheering our runners.

Fourth of July Parade
Date: July 4th unless it falls on a Sunday

Every 4th of July come to Sierra Madre and celebrate America's birthday in style! The City of Sierra Madre hosts a parade along Sierra Madre Boulevard that has been an annual tradition for generations. Prop a chair or two along the Boulevard to enjoy the small town charm of the parade entries! After the parade you can continue the fun at Memorial Park and enjoy a festive band, beer garden, games and food!

Concerts in the Park

Join the City of Sierra Madre this summer for the Concerts in the Park, beginning Sunday, July 8, 2012 and occurring every Sunday through August 26, 2012. The concerts are FREE thanks to the support of Athens Services and the Sierra Madre Issei Memorial Foundation, along with numerous community hosts.

Exhibition & Artist Reception

The City of Sierra Madre Community Arts Commission is pleased to present an Arts Exhibition by Halcyon Koerber. The Exhibition by Halcyon Koerber is now on display through Thursday, November 17, 2011. Community members are invited to an Artist Reception on Friday, October 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Sierra Madre City Hall (232 East Sierra Madre Blvd.). The event is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

Softball

Adult Co-ed Softball

The Sierra Madre Adult Co-ed Softball League is held in the summer months of June through August. Adults 18 years and older compete in two divisions. The "A" League is for competitive players and the "B" League is for recreational players. Participants can sign up as a team or as individuals.
