On Saturday, October 20, 2012 the City of Sierra Madre hosted the Oktoberfest Golf and Tennis Tournament which benefited Sierra Madre Community Service programs. Although the wet weather made playing conditions less than ideal for tennis and golf players, everyone still had a fun time!
The competition is about to begin in Sierra Madre with the 8th Annual Oktoberfest Golf and Tennis Tournament on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Sierra Madre Community Programs are the beneficiary of this City sponsored event, with programs like Movies in the Park, Summer Fun in the Park, Huck Finn Fishing Derby, Halloween Window Painting, and the Sierra Madre Historic Bike Ride receiving support.
The Community Services Department is offering the Summer Fun in the Park program every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9:30 am to 10:30 am beginning July 10 and ending August 30. The program is geared for children ages 3 to 10 years and held at the Memorial Park Bandshell, 222 West Sierra Madre Blvd.
Thanks to generous donations from the Sierra Madre Police Association and the Sierra Madre Community through outreach by Bob Jackson, the Family Movie Fridays series continues this summer! All movies are shown in Kersting Court and are absolutely free for everyone. Movies begin approximately at 8:00pm and patrons are encouraged to bring seating and blankets for the event.
