The Operations Division performs duties related to emergency and non-emergency response, fire prevention, personnel training, and fleet maintenance.

Sworn personnel respond from Station 41, located in downtown Sierra Madre.  All sworn personnel are minimally EMT-1 certified.  Engine 41 is minimally staffed with one (1) company officer, one (1) engineer, and one (1) firefighter.  Rescue Ambulance 41 is staffed with two (2) Los Angeles County certified Paramedics.

The Sierra Madre Fire Department maintains a fleet of eight (8) vehicles that respond to emergency incidents.

As of 2015, the Sierra Madre Fire Department contracts out operational Battalion Chief duties through a dual contract with the Cities of Arcadia and Monrovia.

Verdugo Fire Communications Center is a regional emergency dispatch facility serving the cities of Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Alhambra, Arcadia, Monrovia, Montebello, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, San Marino, Sierra Madre, and South Pasadena.
