Rachelle Arizmendi was elected to the City Council in 2014. In April 2016, she was selected to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Rachelle was born in Carmel, California and is a graduate of San Diego State University (two Bachelor’s degrees) and Eastern Illinois University (Master’s degree).
Rachelle is the Vice-President and Chief Executive Officer of PACE (Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment). PACE is a non-profit community development organization that serves over 40,000 people every year in the areas of job training and employment, business development, early childhood education, financial education and asset building, energy and weatherization.She oversees a budget of close to $30 million and a staff of 350 employees. In her previous capacity at PACE, she held the position of Education Project Director for 16 years. She was also the Executive Director for 2-1-1 California(an affiliate organization of the United Ways of California) and an Adjunct Faculty member at Pasadena City College during her time away from PACE.
Rachelle and her husband made Sierra Madre their home in 2006. Rachelle has served on the City of Sierra Madre’s Community Services Commission for five years. In her role as a Sierra Madre Commissioner, Rachelle worked to enhance and improve the quality of life throughout Sierra Madre.
She is currently a member on the CA League of Cities'Community Services Policy Committee and a Board Member of the League’s Asian Pacific Islander (API) Caucus. Rachelle is also a Board Member of several non-profit entities.
