Sierra Madre, CA. – May 5, 2015 - The City of Sierra Madre Senior Community Commission is hosting the 5th Annual Community Yard Sale on Saturday, June 6, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. located in the Sierra Vista Park (611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd). Community organizations and members are invited to come together with their neighbors to participate in a community yard sale. Participants have the opportunity to clean out their garages, attics, storage sheds and closets without sending those items to landfill.
The Sierra Madre City Council is seeking input on how to balance the City’s General Fund budget. During the month of May, Council Members will be visiting a number of community groups, commissions, and boards in order to listen to residents’ priorities on General Fund spending and seek out ways to reduce costs (services) or increase revenues (taxes and fees).

Sierra Madre, CA. - April 22, 2015 – On Monday, the Court of Appeal issued its decision analyzing whether conservation water rates (also known as tiered water rates or inclining block rates) utilized in the City of San Juan Capistrano are consistent with the provisions of Proposition 218 requirements that a fee charged to a property owner shall not exceed the proportional cost of the service attributable to the property. When the decision was issued, Sierra Madre, which has a tiered water rate structure created for compliance with Prop 218 requirements, reviewed its own water rate study to ensure that the City’s tiers are also consistent with the Court’s decision.
