The Foothill Extension is on schedule and on budget. The 11.5-mile light rail project will be turned over to Metro for testing and pre-revenue service in September 2015, and we are happy to report that the majority of the work that impacts project neighbors is nearly behind us.
In late August, when the rail crossing over Mountain Ave in Monrovia/Duarte is completed, a major milestone will be achieved - all fourteen street level or at-grade crossings for the project will be complete. Each of these crossings required long-term street closures to relocate and upgrade underground utilities, install rail safety equipment and track, rebuild the streets, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and more.
Work will continue within the railroad corridor, at the future stations and parking facilities, and at the 24-acre Operations Campus throughout 2014 and most of 2015. Metro will determine when the line opens for passenger service
