Nancy Walsh was sworn in as Mayor on April 23, 2013. She has served as City Council Member since 2010. Previously serving as Mayor Pro-Tem and a Councilmember. Prior to her election, she was a member of the Sierra Madre Senior Community Commission from 2004-2010, leading the development of the Senior Master Plan and the Hart Memorial Park House renovation plan, and establishing a partner program with Los Angeles County which generated over $80,000 for programs and services to benefit Sierra Madre seniors. As a member of the City Council, her current responsibilities include: City Liaison to the Chamber of Commerce, Green Advisory Committee, and the Independent Cities Association. She is also an alternate to the Senior Commission, the San Gabriel Council of Governments, and the Sanitation District.
Mayor Walsh was raised in Hollywood. She earned a B.A. from California State University in Los Angeles, and in addition to graduate studies in Public Administration, she holds a certificate in Management from the University of Southern California. She was employed in Public Service for 30 years by the County of Los Angeles Departments of Health and Mental Health, principally as a manager and supervisor. Before retiring in 2002, she served as Chief Executive Officer of the Coastal Cluster Health Centers.
