Water Penalties Set to Increase

The latest water billing numbers show 75% of Sierra Madre customers met or outperformed their water conservation target in May. The City would like to thank those customers for doing their part to make every drop count. However, as the state drought stretches into its fifth year, further action is required to address the remaining shortfalls in water conservation.

The City of Sierra Madre will introduce a new water penalty rate for each billing unit used in excess of a customer’s conservation target. The current penalty rate is $5.04/unit. On July 1, 2016, that rate will increase to $10.72, or two times the Tier 4 rate. For more information about water conservation, click the water drop icon found in the green Quick Links menu.
